Trustee Vacancy
Become a Trustee – Help shape the future of sickle cell care
We are recruiting two new Trustees to join the Board of the Sickle Cell Society.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in improving the lives of people living with sickle cell disorder across the UK — at a time of real change in treatment, policy and patient voice.
About us
We are the UK’s patient charity for people living with sickle cell disorder. We support individuals and families, advocate for better care, and work with partners across the NHS, government and industry to drive change.
The role
As a Trustee, you will help guide the strategic direction of the Society, working alongside fellow Trustees and the senior team.
You will:
- Contribute to decision-making and long-term strategy
- Ensure strong governance and accountability
- Support the organisation to deliver impact for people living with sickle cell
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for people who are committed to our mission and can bring insight, experience and sound judgement to Board discussions.
We would particularly welcome:
- People living with sickle cell, or with wider lived experience of the condition
- One new trustee with experience in charity fundraising
Time commitment
- Board meetings: monthly (evenings, a mix of in person at London office and online meetings)
- In person attendance at key events, including our AGM and patient education day
Term
Trustees are appointed for a three-year term.
Why join us
Sickle cell disorder is the fastest growing genetic condition in the UK, yet remains under-recognised and under-resourced.
By joining our Board, you will help shape national conversations, influence change in the NHS, and ensure that the voices of people living with sickle cell are heard.
